Cal Poly Pomona selected as favorite in 2026 CCAA Women's Soccer Preseason Poll

ALISO VIEJO, Calif. - Cal Poly Pomona has been selected as the favorite in the 2026 CCAA Women's Soccer Preseason Coaches Poll, earning 10 of the 14 first-place votes as the Broncos look to capture their fourth consecutive conference regular-season championship.
 
Cal Poly Pomona collected 188 points to finish 30 points ahead of defending CCAA Tournament champion Cal Poly Humboldt. The Lumberjacks received two first-place votes and 158 points to take the No. 2 spot. Cal State San Bernardino was third with 151 points, followed by Stanislaus State (141) and Chico State (137).

Cal State LA received one first-place vote and finished sixth with 131 points. Cal State San Marcos was seventh with 118 points, while Cal State Monterey Bay collected the final first-place vote and 101 points to place eighth.
 
Cal State East Bay (92), UC Merced (85), Cal State Dominguez Hills (64) and San Francisco State (41) occupied spots 9-12. New CCAA members Menlo College and Fresno Pacific tied for 13th with 27 points apiece as the conference expands to 14 women's soccer programs for the 2026 season.
 
Cal Poly Pomona has established itself as one of the premier women's soccer programs in NCAA Division II over the past two seasons. After winning the 2024 NCAA Championship, the Broncos captured their third consecutive CCAA regular-season title in 2025 and returned to the NCAA semifinals. CPP went 7-1-3 in conference play (18-3-3 overall) to edge Chico State by one point for the regular-season crown before making another deep run in the NCAA postseason. The Broncos enter 2026 ranked No. 2 in the United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division II Preseason Poll.
 
Cal Poly Humboldt climbed to second in the CCAA coaches poll after putting together a memorable postseason run in 2025. The Lumberjacks entered the CCAA Tournament as the No. 5 seed before advancing past Cal State San Bernardino on penalty kicks and recording back-to-back 1-0 wins over Cal Poly Pomona and Chico State to claim the program's first CCAA Tournament Championship. Humboldt (8-6-8, 4-2-5 CCAA) became the first No. 5 seed to win the women's soccer tournament and earned its first NCAA postseason berth as a member of the CCAA.
 
Cal State San Bernardino made one of the biggest jumps in this year's preseason poll. After being selected eighth before the 2025 season, the Coyotes finished tied for third in the conference standings with 20 points and returned to the CCAA Tournament for the first time since 2016. CSUSB went 6-3-2 in conference play (8-6-5 overall) to claim their most points in nearly a decade. The Coyotes moved all the way up to third in the 2026 preseason voting.
 
Stanislaus State was picked fourth after another strong season in 2025. The Warriors went 6-3-2 in conference play and 11-5-4 overall while finishing third in the standings and reaching the CCAA Tournament semifinals. Stan State also spent time in the NCAA West Region rankings late in the season. The Warriors are one of four additional CCAA teams receiving votes in the United Soccer Coaches national preseason poll.
 
Chico State was voted fifth following one of the biggest turnarounds in the conference last season. Picked 10th in the 2025 preseason poll, the Wildcats went 7-2-2 in CCAA play and finished just one point behind Cal Poly Pomona in the regular-season standings. Chico State then made a strong postseason run, advancing to the CCAA Tournament championship match. The Wildcats are also receiving votes in the national poll heading into 2026.
 
Cal State LA received a first-place vote and 131 points overall. The Golden Eagles tied Cal State San Marcos with 15 points last season and finished 7-5-6 overall (4-4-3 CCAA). Cal State LA is also receiving votes in the United Soccer Coaches preseason rankings, along with Stanislaus State, Chico State, and Cal State San Marcos.
 
Cal State San Marcos was selected seventh with 118 points after going 7-5-5 last season. Cal State Monterey Bay earned one first-place vote and was voted eighth. Cal State East Bay, which earned the final spot in last year's CCAA Tournament, followed in ninth. UC Merced was voted 10th as the Bobcats enter their second season competing on a CCAA women's soccer schedule.
 
Cal State Dominguez Hills and San Francisco State were selected 11th and 12th, respectively, while Menlo and Fresno Pacific will begin their first seasons as members of the CCAA. Both institutions officially joined the conference on July 1, 2026, expanding the CCAA to 14 members. This will also expand the CCAA Tournament to seven teams beginning in 2026.
 
The 2026 women's soccer season kicks off Thursday, Aug. 27, with multiple CCAA teams in action. Conference play starts Friday, Sept. 18. Cal Poly Pomona will open its pursuit of a fourth straight regular-season title at Cal State LA, while defending tournament champion Cal Poly Humboldt welcomes new CCAA member Menlo to Arcata.
