ROHNERT PARK, Calif. Mari Takeda Bajan pitched a complete game, allowing only one run to help lift San Francisco State to the 3-1 win over Cal State San Marcos for the Gators' first victory in the CCAA Softball Tournament since 2019.

The senior right-hander went all seven innings, allowing seven hits and one run. She walked three and struck out five to improve her record to 17-6.

The Gators staked Takeda Bajan to a two-run lead by putting up single runs in the first and second innings. SF State loaded the bases in the first inning and scored on a bases-loaded walk by Marissa Jordan. A wild pitch in the second inning brought in pinch runner Emily Madrigal for the second run.

Cal State San Marcos would put together a threat in the top of the fourth as Delaney Prater singled with one out and went to third on Aneesa Arredondo’s double. The next batter, Mackenzie Kestler, would hit a hard groundball to first baseman Shaunessy Cardwell, who immediately came home with the ball. Catcher Marley Gonzales received the ball and ran at the runner, who had come halfway down the line from third. Prater retreated, but Arredondo was already on third. A bit of confusion ensued, and the Gators were able to pull off a double play to end the inning.

SF State added an insurance run in the bottom of the fifth on an RBI-single by Rylee McDaniel to extend their lead to 3-0.

Cal State San Marcos mounted another rally in the top of the sixth as they put together three straight hits with one out. The last one was a single by Prater to bring in Jillian Albayati with the Cougars’ first run of the game. However, Takeda Bajan was able to get a pop-up and a lineout to first to end the threat.

Marley Gonzales went 2-for-3 with a run scored to lead the Gators. Prater was 3-for-3 with an RBI for the Cougars.

San Francisco State advances in the winner’s portion of the bracket in the 2025 CCAA Softball Tournament presented by FloCollege. It will face No. 4 seed Sonoma State on Friday, May 2, at Noon with a spot in the championship on the line.
