Cal State San Marcos finishes 3rd in final NFCA/GoRout poll; Cal State East Bay places 19th

ALISO VIEJO, Calif. - Cal State San Marcos finished at No. 3 in the final NFCA/GoRout Division II Top 25 Coaches Poll of the 2026 season. Cal State East Bay also earned a top 25 finish, placing 19th, and Cal State Dominguez Hills was listed as one of the teams receiving votes.
 
Cal State San Marcos posted a 57-12 record in 2026 and won the CCAA regular-season championship with a program-record 28 wins. The Cougars won the NCAA Regional and Super Regional to advance to the NCAA Championships for the second time in program history. The Cougars won two games at the NCAA Championships in Chattanooga, finishing just one game short of qualifying for the championship series. CSUSM earned the program’s first-ever No. 1 ranking in the NFCA/GoRout DII Top 25 Coaches Poll and was ranked fourth or higher all season, ending the regular season in that position.
 
Cal State East Bay was the CCAA Tournament Champions and finished the season 42-17 (20-12 CCAA). The Pioneers had a 15-game winning streak and climbed as high as No. 2 in the NFCA/GoRout DII Top 25 Coaches Poll before setting a program record by placing 19th in the final poll. CSUEB earned the right to host the NCAA West Regional, where it reached the championship game.
 
Cal State Dominguez Hills finished just short of a 40-win season as it posted a 39-24 record. The Toros put together a very strong non-conference record, going 18-5 to open the season. CSUDH won its final 13 on-conference games against in-region opponents to help secure an NCAA at-large berth. In the regional, the Toros won three consecutive games to reach the championship game.
 
National champions Saint Leo finished No. 1 in the poll with a 54-3-1 record. The Lions were a perfect 10-0 during their postseason run and finished with the fewest losses by a DII softball national champion. Click here to see the final NFCA poll release
