Volleyball teams from the CCAA will comprise half the field in the upcoming 2024 NCAA West Regional.
Cal Poly Pomona (23-3) earned the No. 1 seed and the right to host the eight-team regional.
San Francisco State (21-6) will be the No. 2 seed.
Stanislaus State (22-7) moved to the No. 6 seed and
Cal State LA (18-10) claimed the No. 7 seed.
Cal Poly Pomona was the CCAA regular-season champion with just one loss (17-1). Senior outside hitter Samantha Campion claimed CCAA Player of the Year and six other Broncos claimed All-CCAA honors. The team was 9-1 at home this season, and its only loss came in the CCAA Tournament semifinals. CPP paced the conference this year in digs (16.47) and opponent hitting percentage (.149). It was second in kills (13.96), assists (12.47), and blocks (2.26).
San Francisco State earned an at-large bid and its highest seeding in program history (No. 2) after finishing second in the conference at 15-3. Five Gators collected All-CCAA honors, including Kimblery DeBoer, named the CCAA Setter of the Year for a record third straight season. SF State led the conference and ranked 13th in Div. II in hitting percentage (.263) and 10th in kills per set (14.2).
Stanislaus State collected the conference's automatic bid after winning three matches in three days to claim the CCAA Tournament Championship. The Warriors were led by Tournament MVP Ellison Weaver, who averaged 4.0 kills per set in the tournament and posted two double-doubles. The Warriors are one of the CCAA's top defensive teams. They led the conference in blocks (2.55) and ranked 14th in the NCAA. Stan State was also second in digs (15.89) and opponent hitting percentage (.153).
Defending national champions
Cal State LA claimed the No. 7 seed as an at-large bid. The Golden Eagles finished fourth in the CCAA regular season standings (11-7) before making a run to the CCAA Tournament championship match. Senior Emily Elliott ranks second in Div. II with 5.29 kills per set and leads the country with 6.21 points per set. Cal State LA ranks second in the CCAA in total blocks (214) and aces (202).
In the first round, Cal Poly Pomona will face the No. 8 seed, Simon Fraser. San Francisco State will play Cal State LA in an all-CCAA matchup. Stan State will face PacWest Champions Chaminade. The game times are yet to be determined.
