From North San Diego County to Humboldt County and from metro Los Angeles to San Francisco, the CCAA Championships will be staged in all regions of the Golden State in 2021-22 as competition returns after a long hiatus.
October 23 marks the special date when the first of 13 conference championships take place in San Marcos. When the gun goes off on the campus of Cal State San Marcos for the Cross Country Championships, it will have been nearly 20 months since a CCAA championship event had occured.
"We are excited to have our student-athletes back competing on the field of play, and are looking forward to our conference tournaments and championships,” said CCAA Commissioner Mitch Cox. “I am confident our member institutions throughout the state will provide a great championship experience for everyone."
Formats for the championships have changed for some sports with soccer, volleyball, and basketball moving to a six-team single-elimination tournament. The Baseball Tournament will still feature six teams but the first round between the four lower seeds is now single-elimination.
New for 2021-22, the Men’s and Women’s Soccer Tournaments are now separate events and the Men’s and Women’s Golf Championships are together at one course.
After the first-round matches on campus sites on Nov. 7, the four remaining men’s soccer teams will meet at Cal State LA’s University Stadium, while the four women’s sides will converge at Kellogg Stadium on the campus of Cal Poly Pomona, Nov. 12-14.
The Volleyball Tournament returns to Coussoulis Arena, Nov. 18-20, at Cal State San Bernardino, home of the 2019 NCAA Division II National Champions. It marks the third time the tournament is held at Coussoulis since its inception in 2015.
Humboldt State’s Lumberjack Arena is the site of the Men’s & Women’s Basketball Tournament, March 3-5, 2022. The three-day tournament makes its return behind the Redwood Curtain after a successful event in 2010.
In the spring, men’s and women’s golf teams travel to Yocha Dehe Golf Club near Cache Creek Casino (50 miles West of Sacramento) for the 54-hole championship tournament, April 11-13. Stanislaus State and Chico State will serve as hosts, respectively.
During the busy championship month of May, CCAA institutions will compete in the Bay Area, Central Coast and the Northern Central Valley over a 10-day period.
The Men’s & Women’s Track & Field Championships will be hosted by San Francisco State at Cox Stadium, May 5-7. Concurrently, the Softball Tournament is fielded once again at the Otter Sports Complex at Cal State Monterey Bay, May 5-8. Lastly, Chico State’s Nettleton Stadium will be the home of the four-day Baseball Tournament, May 11-14. It is the first time the baseball tournament will be held at an on-campus site since 2012.
Tickets to attend the CCAA Championships will be available in advance at GoCCAA.org and during the event at each host site. Please check the conference website for the latest information on COVID-19 related spectator policies for each championship. Click here
