Cal Poly Pomona repeats as Robert J. Hiegert Commissioner's Cup Champions

ALISO VIEJO, Calif. - The Cal Poly Pomona Broncos are the winners of the 2025-26 CCAA Robert J. Hiegert Commissioner's Cup with 93.93 points. CPP is the first university since 2016-17 to win in back-to-back seasons.
 
The award, named in honor of former long-time Commissioner and CCAA Hall of Famer Robert J. Hiegert, is given to the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) member institution with the highest aggregate ranking in eight of the CCAA's 13 championship sports.

The Broncos won three CCAA Championships during the season and had five more top-3 finishes, accumulating 93.93 points. Chico State finished second with 87.71 points, and Cal State San Marcos placed third with 85.72 points.

Congratulations to the amazing Bronco student-athletes, Interim President Iris Levine, Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Brian Swanson, and the Cal Poly Pomona coaches and staff."
 
Cal Poly Pomona had a strong fall, collecting first-place finishes in women's soccer and volleyball. Both cross country teams would also finish in the top 3 at the CCAA Championships. CPP added to its total in the winter with a women's basketball championship and the men's team tying for fourth. Three top-3 finishes in the spring sealed the Hiegert Cup for the second consecutive year, and for the third time in school history. 
 
"The resilience, grit, and determination were evident throughout the multiple sport seasons by our student-athletes, coaches, and athletic administrative staff in working together to achieve programmatic success," said Cal Poly Pomona's Director of Intercollegiate Athletics, Brian Swanson. "The ability to continually adapt to the ever-changing landscape of intercollegiate athletics and the focus needed to stay present during each week of long athletic seasons showed in the culmination of the overall body of achievement across all sports.  The ability of student-athletes to manage academics, sports, and service is a testament to their drive to achieve demonstrated success both in competition and beyond."
 
Chico State placed second with 87.71 points. The Wildcats had the most CCAA Championships in 2025-26. It swept the CCAA men's and women's cross country championships, the men's and women's track & field championships, and won the men's golf title.
 
Cal State San Marcos had the largest gain in the standings from last season, going from eighth to third with 85.72 points. The Cougars won two spring championships in softball and women's golf, adding to their top-3 finishes in baseball, men's cross country, men's golf, and women's track & field.  
 
Cal Poly Humboldt matched its best finish in program history, as it placed fourth with a school-record 73.56 points.
 
Cal State East Bay collected a top-5 finish in the Hiegert Cup standings in back-to-back seasons for the first team in program history. Its men's basketball team was the only team to earn the full 14 points in any CCAA sport, as it won the regular-season and tournament championships.
 
Cal State LA just edged out Cal State San Bernardino for sixth place, to finish in the top half of the Commissioner's Cup standings.
 
Cal State LA had top-3 finishes in men's soccer, volleyball, and women's basketball. The women's basketball team also collected an additional point by winning the CCAA Tournament Championship.
 
Cal State San Bernardino's lone regular-season championship came on the links with its men's golf team. However, it collected additional points in the cup standings by winning the CCAA Volleyball and Baseball Tournaments.
 
Stanislaus State's strongest season was in the fall, where it earned 44.69 of its 65.35 points. The men's soccer team finished second before going on to win the CCAA Tournament. All five Warrior teams in the fall recorded top-4 finishes.
 
Cal State Monterey Bay baseball won its CCAA record fifth consecutive regular-season championship to highlight its 2025-26 season. Cal State Dominguez Hills won the CCAA men's soccer championship for the fourth time in the last five years.
 
San Francisco State placed 11th, and as a newcomer to the CCAA, UC Merced finished 12th.
 
CPP is only the third team in CCAA history to win multiple Hiegert Commissioner's Cups. The Broncos join Chico State (seven) and UC San Diego (eight).
 
An institution's Hiegert Cup ranking is calculated using its top two Conference finishes in the fall, winter, and spring sports seasons, as well as the next two highest finishes, regardless of the season.
