Apr 23, 2026

ALISO VIEJO, Calif. - With winter sports in the books, it is time to share the updated 2025-26 Robert J. Hiegert Commissioner's Cup standings.

Cal Poly Pomona leads the way with 70.63 points, and only 5.1 points separate the next four teams. Chico State is second with 56.16 points, followed by Cal State East Bay with 54.01 points and Cal State San Marcos with 53.23 points. Stanislaus State (51.05 points) completed the top 5.

An institution's Hiegert Cup ranking is calculated using its top two conference finishes in the fall, winter, and spring sports seasons and the following two highest finishes (aka Flex Sports).

Cal State San Bernardino holds the No. 6 spot with 49.09 points. Cal Poly Humboldt is seventh with 46.36 points, followed by Cal State LA with 45.5 points. Cal State Dominguez Hills and Cal State Monterey Bay hold the No. 9 and 10 spots on the updated standings with 41.98 and 37.49 points, respectively. San Francisco State (20.96) and UC Merced (20.33) round out the 12-team standings.

After a strong fall, which saw Cal Poly Pomona place teams in the top 3 of the conference standings in each sport (volleyball, women's soccer, and men's & women's cross country), the Broncos extended their lead by earning the most points in the Winter segment. The women's basketball team won the regular-season title, and the men tied for fourth. The 22.18 points they earned were just ahead of the 22.17 points earned by Cal Poly Humboldt. The Broncos have now won three CCAA championships in 2025-26.

Chico State already has two CCAA championships under its belt, with the men's & women's cross country teams winning titles on their own course. The women's soccer team finished second, and the women's basketball team finished fourth.

Cal State East Bay made the biggest ascent from the fall standings, moving up three places into third place. The Pioneers won the CCAA men's basketball regular-season and tournament championships, earning the maximum possible points (14). CSUEB has put six of its seven teams into the CCAA Tournaments in 2025-26.

Cal State San Marcos moved one spot up the standings and now stands fourth with 53.23 points. The Cougars accumulated 19.09 points in the winter to add to their 34.14 points from the fall. The top points earned for CSUSM this year are men's cross country (10.31) and women's cross country (9.72).

Stanislaus State put together a fantastic fall, finishing with the highest total points across all five sports. The men's soccer team placed second and collected a bonus point for winning the CCAA Tournament. Women's cross country also finished second, and women's soccer tied for third. Volleyball made a late run and finished fourth in the standings.

The number of institutions sponsoring it determines the specific number of points available per sport. This fall update includes the institution's top two finishes and two flex sports.

The winner of the 2025-26 Robert J. Hiegert Commissioner's Cup will be announced at the executive council meeting in June.
