The No. 1 seed, Cal State San Bernardino, is headed back to the CCAA Tournament Championship match for the sixth consecutive season after a four-set win over No. 4 Cal State LA, 25-19, 25-27, 25-19, and 25-18. (Nov. 19)

Alexis Cardoza led four Yotes in double-figures with a match-best 18 kills. She also recorded a match-high 17 digs as the senior posted her 13th double-double of the season. She hit .378 in the match with just four errors in 37 swings. Cal State San Bernardino also received 10 kills apiece from Jenna Patton, Jalyn Hayes, and Melissa Garciglia. Marlee Nunley dished out 49 assists and had a match-best three service aces.

Alejandra Negron led Cal State LA with 13 kills. Karla Santos added 11, and Eliza Cannon and Jeshmarie Suarez chipped in with eight kills apiece.

After winning the first set and taking a 24-19 lead in the second, it looked like the Yotes might just roll to victory, but the Golden Eagles had other plans in mind. They got a break on game-point when a serve, which looked like it was heading out of bounds, nicked off a Yote student-athlete to keep their hopes alive. Cal State LA proceeded to score eight of the next nine points to win the set 27-25 and even the match at 1-1.

Cal State San Bernardino shrugged off their late mistakes and came back with a vengeance in sets three and four. The Yotes relied on their defense in the next two sets while holding the Golden Eagles to a .132 hitting percentage in the third and just a .029 mark in the fourth. Those defensive efforts helped CSUSB bring momentum back on their side, and they never gave it up en route to the four-set win. The Yotes finished the match, hitting .257, while Cal State LA hit .142.

With the victory, Cal State San Bernardino (24-3) moves to the 2021 CCAA Volleyball Tournament championship match. The Yotes will take on No. 2 seed Cal Poly Pomona in the final. The match will begin at 7 p.m.

Cal State LA (18-9) will wait to find out its postseason fate on Monday, Nov. 22, during the NCAA Selection Show at 4:30 p.m. PST. The Golden Eagles were No. 7 in the latest poll. Eight teams will make the regional which is expected to be hosted by Cal State San Bernardino.
