Cal Poly Pomona swept San Francisco State to become the first team to clinch a spot in the 2021 CCAA Volleyball Tournament championship match.

No. 2 seeded Cal Poly Pomona received contributions up and down their lineup as four different Broncos recorded at least eight kills in the three-set match. Jazmyn Wheeler led the way with 11 kills. She had just two errors to record a .250 hitting percentage, and that was one of the lowest for CPP, which hit .313 as a team.

Jazminn Parrish added 10 kills and a .304 hitting percentage. Kaitlan Tucker and Daisy Duke added eight kills apiece, and they combined for just two errors. Duke hit .350 in the match, and Tucker hit .368. Setter Kira Zimmerman was on the front end of many of these points as the All-CCAA selection dished out 36 assists. Zimmerman was also very accurate as Bronco hitters made just nine errors in the match.

Izzy Issak had another quality performance for San Francisco State with a team-leading 13 kills. Jessica Haynie chipped in with 10 kills, and fellow first team All-CCAA selection Trinity Barr posted nine kills without an error.

The first set could have gone either direction. The set was tied at 14-14, and then CPP went on a 11-3 run to close it out and take the 1-0 lead. That put all the momentum in the Broncos' court, and they would never trail the rest of the match.

In addition to outhitting the Gators .313 to .182, Cal Poly Pomona also dominated at the net, where they had eight kills to San Francisco State's one. Kaitlan Tucker led the way with five blocks. Daisy Duke added three of her own, including two solo blocks.

Cal Poly Pomona (23-3) will now advance to the 2021 CCAA Volleyball Tournament Championship, facing the No. 1 seed, Cal State San Bernardino. The match will begin at 7 p.m. with the tournament championship and an automatic bid to the NCAA West Regional on the line.

San Francisco State concludes its season at 22-5. The 22 wins are the most for the Gators since 1998, and their .846 winning percentage is the best in program history.
