Cal State San Marcos drops game 1 of the NCAA Softball Super Regional

SAN MARCOS, Calif. - The Cal State San Marcos softball team fell 7-1 to Biola in the first game of the 2026 NCAA Super Regional.
 
After CSUSM grabbed the lead with a double by Zoe Karam in the bottom of the first inning, Biola scored seven unanswered runs to earn the win. The Eagles put up one run apiece in the second and third innings before breaking through with three runs in the fifth, thanks to four Cougar errors.
 
Kayla Bousquette earned the win for Biola. She went 4.2 innings, allowing six hits and three walks, but just one run. DJ Symons earned the save by throwing 2.1 scoreless innings. CSUSM starter Daleah Cardenas yielded five runs, but just one was earned in the loss.
 
The teams are scheduled for one game tomorrow at 11 a.m., with the If Necessary game to follow 30 minutes after the conclusion of the first game. Cal State San Marcos is attempting to reach the NCAA Championships for the first time since 2023.
