The NFCA and D2CCA All-West Region Softball Teams were announced earlier in the week, with Cal State San Marcos'
Jillian Albayati being named the West Region Player of the Year and Cal State East Bay's
Marissa Quintero winning the West Region Pitcher of the Year. Twelve additional CCAA student-athletes received regional recognition.
Quintero was joined in the all-region rotation by CSUSM's
Daleah Cardenas and
Jordan Hill. Quintero and Hill were first-team selections on both squads, while Cardenas earned a spot on the NFCA first team and D2CCA second team.
The CCAA was also well-represented in the infield with Cal Poly Humboldt's
Shelby Shanks earning the nod at shortstop on both all-region first teams. She was one of three to earn a place on both all-region teams. The other two went to Cal State San Marcos. The Cougars' second baseman
Jordan Elias earned NFCA first team and the D2CCA second team honors. Her teammate,
Zoe Karam, was second team all-region at third base.
Three more infielders earned a spot on one of the all-region teams. Cal State East Bay's
Rylee Gomez was the second baseman on the D2CCA first team. Cal Poly Humboldt's
Katlyn Gifford was voted to the NFCA second team at first base, and
Katelyn Bridgeman from Stanislaus State earned NFCA second team honors at catcher.
The CCAA dominated at the utility positions, earning six of the eight spots in the region. D2CCA West Region Player of the Year,
Jillian Albayati, was the utility/non-pitcher on both all-region first teams. Cal State San Bernardino's
Ashley Legler was the unanimous choice on both first teams as the utility/pitcher. Cal State Monterey Bay's
Kieley Ganaden was the utility/non-pitcher selection on the D2CCA second team, and Cal State Dominguez Hills'
Torie Au won that honor on the NFCA second team. Au also earned second-team D2CCA honors as a designated player.
In the outfield,
Czar Fleischman represented Cal State San Marcos on both all-region first teams. Cal State Monterey Bay's
Abreanna Alba collected first-team recognition from D2CCA.
The first-teamers from the D2CCA all-region team will advance to the All-America ballot. All the NFCA honorees are now eligible for selection to the 2026 Division II All-America squads, which will be announced on May 27.
