#4 Cal State Dominguez Hills 2, #1 Cal State San Marcos 1 [Box score]
Cal State Dominguez Hills tied the game in the sixth inning, and Savanna Kastigar delivered the go-ahead home run in the seventh to lift the Toros to a 2-1 win over the No. 1 seed Cal State San Marcos, and force a winner-take-all championship game later in the afternoon.
Both starting pitchers, Audrey Gallegos (CSUDH) and Daleah Cardenas (CSUSM), were locked in, with the only run for the first five innings scoring for Cal State San Marcos on a solo homer by Angelina Rodriquez in the second.
The Toros would finally break through against Cardenas in the sixth when Makayla Bishop led off with a double and advanced to third on a sac bunt. She was still there with two outs when Tori Au came through with a single to tie the game.
In the seventh, Kastigar fouled off the first pitch she saw before launching the go-ahead homer over the center field wall for the Toros' first lead of the game.
CSUSM would have a chance in the bottom of the inning as it placed two runners on with one out, but it could not get the hit it needed to tie the game.
#1 Cal State San Marcos 4, #4 Cal State Dominguez Hills 0 [Box score]
Jillian Albayati homered in the first inning, and Jordan Hill pitched 5.1 scoreless innings to help Cal State San Marcos win the NCAA West Region Pod 1 with a 4-0 victory over Cal State Dominguez Hills.
Coming off a loss earlier in the day, Albayati immediately gave the Cougars the lead with a solo home run two batters into the game. It was her 16th homer of the season, and it extended her CCAA record to 74 RBI.
Albayati would also help fuel the Cougars' three-run rally in the third with a leadoff single. She would come in to score on Czar Fleischman's single, before Angelina Rodriguez brought in two more with a two-out single.
That would be all Jordan Hill (17-4) would need. The All-CCAA first-teamer allowed six hits and no runs over 5.1 innings. She struck out two and had no walks. Not until the sixth inning did the Toros put more than two runners on base, and all six of their hits were singles.
#6 Biola 3, #2 Cal State East Bay 2 [Box score]
Biola scored two in the first and another in the fourth to stun Cal State East Bay and win NCAA West Regional Pod 2 with a 3-2 win.
Three of the Eagles' first four batters reached base before Mikala Huske doubled in two runs for the early lead.
Cal State East Bay would come back to tie the game at 2-2 in the fourth. It loaded the bases before Macie Mead was hit by a pitch, and pinch hitter Reagan Hallett drew a walk.
That lead would be short-lived as Biola answered in the bottom of the inning. With one out, Kennadie Tsu tripled to center field before Leilani Salg brought her in with a double into the left-center field gap.
Cal State East Bay would threaten each of the next two innings, but it could not push across the game-tying run.
Kayla Bousquette (17-5) pitched the first 5.1 innings for Biola, allowing five hits and two runs. She walked three and struck out one before giving way to DJ Symons, who earned the save by pitching the final 1.2 innings.
Jaidyn Gamble allowed only one run in relief for CSUEB. She gave up five hits and one run in 5.2 innings of work out of the bullpen.
Biola will advance to the NCAA Softball Super Regional, where it will face Cal State San Marcos in San Marcos on May 22-23.
