2026 Women's Golf All-CCAA Selections; CSUSM's Avery Foster Voted Golfer of the Year

Apr 28, 2026

After dominating on the links in 2025-26, Cal State San Marcos also dominated the CCAA individual awards and All-CCAA selections.

The Cougars earned three of the four special honors, with Avery Foster being voted CCAA Golfer of the Year, Ellaclair Leedom earning Freshman of the Year, and Greg Hutton collecting Coach of the Year honors. CCAA Newcomer of the Year went to Chantel Tsai from Cal State East Bay.

Avery Foster gave Cal State San Marcos its eighth consecutive CCAA Golfer of the Year. The senior transfer from Sonoma State, posted an average score of 72.9 over 26 rounds, ranking as high as 10th in NCAA Division II. Foster earned a win at the Tim Tierney Pioneer Shootout, shooting an 8-under par (136). She has finished in the top 5 in seven of her 10 tournaments, including at the CCAA Tournament for the second consecutive year.

In a lineup that is always tough to break into, Ellaclair Leedom thrived in her first year with Cal State San Marcos. The Rancho Santa Fe native started nine events for CSUSM in her freshman campaign, posting an average score of 74.3 strokes over 24 rounds. She finished within one stroke of first place at the CCAA Championships as she registered an even par 216 on The Reserve at Spanos Park. Leedom is the first CSUSM student-athlete to earn CCAA Freshman of the Year honors since Makenna Cabardo in 2022, and third overall.

Newcomer of the Year honors for the 2026 season went to Cal State East Bay's Chantel Tsai. The junior from New Taipei City, Taiwan, averaged 78.0 strokes over 28 rounds. She earned top 10 finishes in two meets in April to help her climb 80 places in the individual rankings. She is the third Pioneer to earn Newcomer of the Year honors, and the first since 2019 (Mikia Fang).

Greg Hutton led the Cal State San Marcos women's golf team to its seventh consecutive CCAA Championship, and his peers rewarded him by voting him the 2025-26 CCAA Coach of the Year. Hutton helped guide CSUSM to wins in six of 10 tournaments and to a No. 9 national ranking. His team averaged 294.9 strokes over 26 rounds, and they never went more than two tournaments without hoisting a trophy. This was Hutton's eighth career CCAA Women's Golf Coach of the Year award. He is still the only person ever to earn the honor since the conference began women's golf in 2017-18.

Cal State San Marcos also placed all five of its starters at the CCAA Tournament on the CCAA all-conference team. Senior Kiara Hernandez joined Foster and Leedom, as did Abby Sickles and Carmella Carlisi.

Cal State East Bay and Cal State LA also placed multiple student-athletes on the all-conference team. The Golden Eagles' Joshlyn Ayala collected first-team honors for the second time in her career, and Daniela Andrade earned her third in just her junior season.

Cal State East Bay's Torrie Bowman moved up to the first team after collecting honorable mention honors last season. Carlota Eroles earned first-team all-conference for the first time in her career. Cal State Monterey Bay's Cathy Tong completed the 10-person first team. This was also the third time she'd received all-conference recognition.

The CCAA will send four teams to the NCAA West Regional in Pueblo, Colo., on May 4-6, for the opportunity to advance to the NCAA Championships in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, on May 12-16.
