POMONA, Calif. - For the first time in program history, the Cal State LA women's basketball team hoisted the CCAA Tournament Championship trophy.

The Golden Eagles (24-6) entered the tournament as the No. 3 seed and had to win three games in three days to capture the title. They completed that feat by defeating the No. 1 seed, Cal Poly Pomona (25-4), in the championship, 78-62, to become the lowest-seeded team (No. 3) to win the tournament since it expanded to six teams in 2022.

Sofia Fidelus scored a season-high 27 points in the title game. She went 4-for-4 from 3-point range, 7-of-8 from the free throw line, and 8-of-14 overall. The Golden Eagles also got 15 points from tournament MVP Nevaeh Asiasi, 12 from Ariyah Smith and a double-double from Mariah Blake off the bench (11 points, 12 rebounds).

Cal Poly Pomona's Sydney Nelson matched Fidelus with a game-high 27 points and added nine rebounds. Andrea Stajic scored 16 points and finished the tournament with eight 3-pointers made. Nelson and Stajic joined Fidelus, Asiasi, and Chico State's Madison Parry on the all-tournament team.

After a tightly contested opening quarter, the Golden Eagles found their rhythm in the second quarter and carried that momentum through the remainder of the game. Cal State LA built a 33-25 halftime lead before outscoring the Broncos 26–16 in the third quarter, shooting .647 percent from the field in the period to seize control of the game.

Cal State LA shot 41.9 percent from the field and went 9-of-17 from behind the arc, led by Fidelus' four 3-pointers.  The Golden Eagles also received key contributions from their bench, which outscored CPP's reserves 21–6 to earn the program's first CCAA Tournament Championship.

The Golden Eagles will now wait to find out their seed and opponent in the NCAA West Regional. The Selection Show is Sunday, March 8, at 7:30 p.m. on NCAA.com.
