CCAA announces the 2025-26 Women's Basketball All-Conference Team; Cal State LA's Nevaeh Asiasi named Player of the Year

Mar 3, 2026

Cal State LA's senior guard Nevaeh Asiasi has been voted the 2025-26 CCAA Women's Basketball Player of the Year, and Cal Poly Pomona's Danelle Bishop was named the Coach of the Year, highlighting the 2025-26 All-CCAA Women's Basketball Team.

The remaining three individual awards all went to Cal Poly Humboldt. Shade Satica was named both the CCAA Newcomer of the Year and the CCAA Defensive Player of the Year, with Jordyn Smith collecting Freshman of the Year honors.

Nevaeh Asiasi became the first Golden Eagle ever to win CCAA Women's Basketball Player of the Year in Cal State LA's over 70 years in the conference. The native of Pittsburg, Calif., led the CCAA and ranked 24th in NCAA Division II in scoring with 19.5 points per game. She was also seventh in the CCAA in rebounds (8.4), fifth in assists (3.5), and second in steals (2.81). Asiasi is shooting .467 percent from the field (fifth CCAA), .352 percent from 3-point range, and .733 at the free throw line. She has scored 20 or more points in 15 games, including a season-high 30 points against Cal State East Bay. Asiasi's efforts helped lead Cal State LA to a program-record 15-game winning streak and a 21-6 regular-season record.

Cal Poly Humboldt made an 11-game turnaround from last season, posting its first 20-win season since 2014-15, and it could not have done it without the addition of Shade Satica. The junior guard averaged 11.2 points per game and led the CCAA (fourth in NCAA Div. II) with 3.79 steals per game after transferring in from Butte College. The Susanville native was also eighth in the conference in assists (2.9) and 12th in rebounding (6.2). She posted at least two steals in 26 of her 28 games and registered two double-doubles. Satica is the first CCAA women's basketball student-athlete to win CCAA Newcomer of the Year and CCAA Defensive Player of the Year honors.

Jordyn Smith was also a critical part of Cal Poly Humboldt's turnaround, which saw the Lumberjacks collect 10 more conference wins in 2025-26 and earn the No. 2 seed in the CCAA Tournament. Smith was one of only two CCAA student-athletes to average a double-double with 13.9 points per game (seventh CCAA) and 10.7 rebounds per game (second CCAA). The native of Tigard, Ore., also paced the CCAA and ranked fifth nationally in blocks per game (3.11) and was 16th with 14 double-doubles. Smith is the second Lumberjack to win CCAA Freshman of the Year honors (Tyra Turner, 2017).

Danelle Bishop collected her second career CCAA Coach of the Year honor. Bishop led the Broncos to their first CCAA regular-season championship since 2013-14, with a 20-2 conference record (25-3). The 20 CCAA wins are tied for the most in CPP history. The Broncos have also ascended to No. 7 in the WBCA national rankings after posting winning streaks of eight games and 14 games. As a team, Cal Poly Pomona ranks No. 9 in the country in field goal percentage defense (.337) and 15th in scoring defense (54.6). CPP also leads the conference in rebound margin (9.4) and scoring margin (16.0). Bishop is one of only seven to receive CCAA Coach of the Year honors multiple times in their careers.

Cal Poly Pomona and Cal State LA led the way with four all-conference selections apiece. CPP's Sydney Nelson received first-team honors, and she was joined on the All-CCAA squad by second-team selections Andrea Stajic, Brielle Minor, and Hunter Hudson. Cal State LA placed Asiasi and Sofia Fidelus on the first team. Ariyah Smith and Amaya Fuentes both received a second-team selection.

Three student-athletes from Chico State earned All-CCAA honors, with Meadow Aragon and Madison Parry ending up on the first team, and Kamil Reid on the second team.

CPP's Sydney Nelson and Chico's Madison Parry were both named to the All-CCAA team for the third time in their careers. Parry had previously earned two first-team selections, and Nelson collected a first- and second-team honor.

Eleven of the 12 CCAA schools were represented with at least one first- or second-team selection.

The 2026 CCAA Basketball Tournament begins Thursday, Mar. 5, in Pomona. No. 3 seed Cal State LA will take on No. 6 seed Cal State Monterey Bay in the first game of the day at Noon. The 4/5 matchup will follow at 2:30 p.m. when Chico State faces Cal State Dominguez Hills. For more information on the CCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament, click here or visit GoCCAA.org/Hoops
