ELLENSBURG, Wash. - Sydney Nelson scored a game-high 29 points and grabbed 15 rebounds in the NCAA West Regional Championship game to lead Cal Poly Pomona to a 57–51 victory over Central Washington.

Just as they had done all tournament, Cal Poly Pomona (29-4) dominated on defense and made timely plays on offense to pull out the win. It was only a one-point game going into the fourth quarter (39-38), and the Wildcats (25-7) tied the game at 49-49 with three minutes remaining.

Nelson made the first big play down the stretch by collecting Brielle Minor's missed layup and getting fouled on the follow-up for a three-point play. Those would be just three of the 23 second-chance points for Cal Poly Pomona, which held Central Washington to only three offensive rebounds and outscored the Wildcats 23-2 in second-chance points.

A pair of free throws by Asher Cai brought CWU back within one (52-51), and the score remained there until less than 30 seconds were left. CPP ran a play, and Minor drove down the lane and found Kadence Lloyd open in the corner with the shot clock winding down. Lloyd calmly sank the 3-pointer to give the Broncos a four-point lead with only six seconds remaining. Lloyd would seal the game with two free throws at the end.

Nelson scored 10 of her game-high 29 points in the fourth quarter, as she was unstoppable in the paint.  She went 13-of-26 from the field, added a block and a steal, and did not have a turnover. Mydrea Moore added 10 points and six rebounds. Khamiyah Anderson grabbed eight rebounds, including five on the offensive end, in just 14 minutes of play.

Capri Sims had a double-double to lead the Wildcats. The junior scored 22 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. Cal Poly Pomona held the West Region Player of the Year, Asher Cai, to 15 points on 2-of-10 shooting. CPP's bench also outscored CWU's 11-0.

The game featured 10 ties and six lead changes. Cal Poly Pomona outrebounded Central Washington 45-30 and held them to 3-of-13 from behind the arc.  CPP's bench also outscored CWU's 11-0.

The game was played in front of 1,076 fans at Nicholson Arena.

Cal Poly Pomona will advance to the Elite Eight in Pittsburgh.
