Cal Poly Pomona has been named the winner of the 2024-25 CCAA Presidents' Cup.
The award was created to honor the CCAA institution that had the most success on the national level. This includes qualifying for NCAA tournaments, winning NCAA tournament contests, NCAA regional championships, and victories at NCAA Championships. The results are based on the 2024-25 Division II LEARFIELD Directors' Cup standings.
"The CCAA Presidents' Cup is more than a symbol of athletic excellence - it’s a reflection of the determined effort, heart, and teamwork that define Cal Poly Pomona," said
Christina M. Gonzales, CPP's Vice President for Student Affairs & Dean of Students. "Our student-athletes compete with pride, and behind them is a community of coaches and staff who make their success possible.
"This recognition reflects a phenomenal year for Cal Poly Pomona Athletics and is a testament to the talent and dedication of our student-athletes, coaches, and staff," Gonzales continued. "The CCAA Presidents' Cup celebrates national excellence - and it’s incredibly meaningful to see our Broncos competing and succeeding at the highest levels. We’re proud that this achievement reflects not only athletic success, but also the culture of determination and teamwork that defines Cal Poly Pomona."
The Broncos claimed the second CCAA Presidents' Cup by collecting 410.5 points and finishing 41st in the Division II LEARFIELD Directors' Cup standings. The women's soccer team earned the full 100 points by capturing the 2024 NCAA Championship with a 22-1-2 record. The Broncos also secured points in men's cross country (53 points), men's soccer (50), and volleyball (64). In the winter, CPP captured points in women's basketball (25) and indoor track & field (45). Cal Poly Pomona closed the year by earning 22 points in women's outdoor track & field and 50 points in men's track & field.
"The CCAA Board of Presidents is honored to present the 2024-25 Presidents' Cup to Cal Poly Pomona," said
CCAA Commissioner Allen Hardison. "This prestigious award was designed by our Board to honor the CCAA institution that had the most success during the NCAA tournament and postseason competition. The Broncos turned in a historic conference season and followed that up with incredible success on the national stage. Cal Poly Pomona won a National Championship in Women's Soccer, reached NCAA Regionals in four team sports, and posted high finishes in Men's and Women's Cross Country and Men's and Women's Track and Field during NCAA postseason competitions. With their achievements at both the conference and national level, the Broncos become the first CCAA member institution to win the Commissioner's Cup and Presidents' Cup in the same academic year."
The CCAA Presidents' Cup will be presented to the Cal Poly Pomona Athletic Department by the CCAA Commissioner during the upcoming year.
"Winning the CCAA Presidents' Cup is a recognition of the collective efforts of our student-athletes, coaches, and staff working together to achieve a higher goal," explained
Cal Poly Pomona's Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Brian Swanson. " This award is truly a team effort, and we are excited to build on our Bronco Athletics successes moving forward."
