AUSTIN, Texas - The College Sports Communicators (CSC) have selected Cal State San Marcos'
Madison Murr as the NCAA Division II Academic All-America® Team Member of the Year.
The senior from Los Alamitos, California, Murr graduated with a bachelor’s degree in environmental studies and a 3.96 GPA this spring. She is the 2025 recipient of the Inkster Award presented by the Women’s Golf Coaches Association. This award recognizes the highest-ranked women’s collegiate golfer in her final year of NCAA eligibility.
Murr won the individual titles at the 2025 NCAA Division II and CCAA championships. She had five victories on the season. The CCAA Golfer of the Year for the second straight year, Murr concluded her Cal State San Marcos career with 10 tournament wins and 21 top-three finishes. She is a three-time WGCA All-American with two appearances on the first team.
A two-time first team Academic All-America®, Murr is one of 10 repeat selections on this year’s squad and one of seven two-time AAA picks. The veteran of this year’s team is Cal State LA graduate student golfer
Morgan Sjoerdsma, who earns her fourth AAA award. A third team member this year, she made the third team as a sophomore, the second team as a junior and the first team as a senior.
The Division II at-large teams honored 45 student-athletes with eight members of the first team holding perfect 4.00 GPAs. A total of 16 of the 45 members have 4.00 GPAs either as an undergraduate or a graduate student. The 15-member first team has a 3.93 cumulative GPA.
The Division II Academic All-America® program is being financially supported by the NCAA Division II national governance structure to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2024-25 Division II Academic All-America® program.
Established in 1952 and selected by College Sports Communicators (CSC), Academic All-America is the longest-running and premier award for athletic and academic success across championship college sports at all NCAA levels, the NAIA, two-year colleges and Canadian institutions. Since its inception in 1952, more than 40,000 student-athletes from numerous sports across all divisions have earned these elite Academic All-America scholar-athlete honors.
