CSUSB's Hailey Hunt named the 2025 CCAA Women's Track & Field Athlete of the Year

Jun 2, 2025

The California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) coaches have voted Cal State San Bernardino's Hailey Hunt as the 2025 CCAA Women's Track & Field Athlete of the Year.

The Winnetka, Calif., native put together one of the best seasons for any sprinter in CCAA history, capping it off with three All-American awards on Saturday at the 2025 NCAA Track & Field Championships.

At Nationals, Hunt finished fourth in the 100m with a time of 11.28 to capture individual All-American honors. She earned another fourth-place finish and All-American honors in the 200m with a career-best time of 22.93.

The senior teamed up with Alexandra Ackerman, Amari Weatherford, and Coryssa Hope to help CSUSB's 4x100m relay team place second at the NCAA Championships with the second-fastest time in NCAA Division II history (43.93). Hunt also helped the 4x400m relay team qualify for the finals, where they would place fifth.

Hunt's 12 points at nationals helped Cal State San Bernardino finish eighth at the NCAA Championships with 28 team points. It is the first time a CCAA women's team has finished in the top 10 in five years, and the 28 points are the most for any CCAA women's team since San Francisco State in 2019 (42 points).

Hunt is only the second CCAA student-athlete in the last five years to earn three first-team All-American awards at a single championship. The Art major concludes her career as a five-time All-American. She collected second-team honors in the 200m and 4x100m relay last season.

Hunt did not just show up at nationals, as she also had a significant impact on the CCAA Championships. Hunt shattered the conference championship record in the 100m. After breaking the previous record of 11.59 during the prelims with a 11.46, she ran a time of 11.30 in finals to set the new standard.

Hunt also helped both relay teams rewrite the CCAA Championship record books. The 4x100m relay team ran a 44.83 to become the first team in championship history to post a sub-45.0-second time. The 4x400m relay team broke the previous championship record by over a second with a time of 3:40.52. Hunt also placed second in the 200m relay as she walked away from the championships with four medals.

Hunt is the first Coyote to win CCAA Women's Track & Field Athlete of the Year honors in the over 25-year history of the award (1999).
