Thirteen CCAA student-athletes earned a place on the D2CCA Softball All-West Region Team, highlighted by Cal State East Bay’s
Marissa Quintero earning D2CCA West Region Pitcher of the Year.
Quintero was joined on the first team by her teammate
Ashlee Toy (UT/P) and Cal Poly Humboldt’s
Alyssa Smokey (DP). The CCAA earned two of the three spots in the outfield, with Sonoma State’s
Amari Houston and Cal State San Marcos’
Madison Waymire being named to the first team.
Rylee McDaniel (2B) and
Kai DeLeon (SS) gave San Francisco State both middle infielder spots on the all-region first team.
Sonoma State placed two more on the All-West Region second team to match Cal State East Bay and San Francisco State with three selections apiece.
Charlie Johnson was named to the all-region second team as a pitcher, and
Sophia Newcomb was named as an outfielder. SF State’s
Mari Takeda Bajan (P) collected second-team honors, as did Cal State East Bay’s
Annelise Garcia (C). Other second-team honorees included
Paige Donnelly (1B, Cal State San Marcos) and
Tereise Tosi (3B, Cal State San Bernardino).
Quintero led the West Region and ranked 13th in NCAA Div. II with a 1.23 earned run average. Her seven shutouts pace the region, and her 20 wins rank second. Quintero is also tied for second in WHIP (1.02). She is the first West Region Pitcher of the Year from Cal State East Bay.
Western Washington’s
Maleah Andrews was named D2CCA West Region Player of the Year.
