Jun 9, 2025

Three CCAA softball student-athletes received All-American recognition for their outstanding 2025 seasons.

Cal Poly Humboldt's Alyssa Smokey earned All-American honors as a designated player on the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) second team and the D2CCA third team. Cal State East Bay's Marissa Quintero also picked up a pair of All-American honors as she was voted to the NFCA and D2CCA third teams. Cal State San Bernardino's Tereise Tosi earned her All-American recognition as an at-large selection on the NFCA second team.

Alyssa Smokey ranked No. 2 in NCAA Division II with a .588 on-base percentage and 29th with a .439 batting average. The senior was one of the top hitters in the CCAA, ranking third in RBI (46) and slugging percentage (.689) while reaching base safely in 47 of 50 games. Smokey struck out just 16 times while drawing 28 walks and 21 hit by pitches. She finished the season with 11 doubles, seven home runs, and 27 runs scored.

Marissa Quintero went from the 2024 CCAA Freshman of the Year to winning a pair of All-America honors as a sophomore. The right-handed pitcher led the West Region and ranked No. 9 in the country with a 1.23 earned run average. She allowed the fewest hits per seven innings (4.77) while pitching the fourth-most innings (176.0). Quintero ranked 15th in Div. II with 15 shutouts and 28th with 20 wins. Quintero had only a 1.02 WHIP, and opponents hit only .189 against her.

Tereise Tosi closed out her fantastic four-year career with her second consecutive season earning CCAA Player of the Year and All-American honors. The third baseman led the West Region with a .810 slugging percentage and 141 total bases as she recorded 14 home runs and 47 RBI. Tosi ranked 10th in the NCAA Div. II with a .466 batting average and 24th with 81 hits. She added a .528 on-base percentage (.528), and she reached base in 27 consecutive games to end the season.

The three NFCA All-Americans are the most for the CCAA in a single season since putting five on the team in 2022. It is only the third time since 2016 that the CCAA has placed three or more on the NFCA All-America team.

About the NFCA
The NFCA is the professional organization for fastpitch softball coaches. Known for its highly-regarded awards program, the NFCA also educates and supports softball coaches on a variety of different levels: from podcasts to an extensive drills database, to in-person events and National Convention

About the D2 CCA
Sports information directors (aka College Sports Communicators) from NCAA Division II schools and conferences selected the three D2 CCA All-America teams. The process begins at the regional level, with all first-team all-region picks advancing to the national ballot—a total of 42 student-athletes representing 16 different conferences fill out the three teams. The Division II Conference Commissioners Association encourages and promotes Division II athletics and high standards of sportsmanship as important elements of higher education. The CCA is a key communications link among the conferences as they discuss views, policies, and regulations that impact Division II intercollegiate athletics. It also works closely with the NCAA as a communications channel for NCAA Division II member colleges and universities.
