Cal State San Marcos wins the NCAA West Regional; Cougars will host Super Regional next week

Cal State San Marcos had to win two games on Saturday to keep their season alive. Their senior-laden group rose to the challenge by defeating San Francisco State 3-2 in the first game, before coming back to win 16-4 in the late game.
 
CSUSM will advance to the NCAA Super Regional where it will host defending regional champions Western Washington in a best-of-three series. 

Western Washington 6, Cal State East Bay 2 [Box score]
Cal State East Bay got out of the elimination portion of the bracket to face Western Washington for the regional title. The Pioneers had to beat the Vikings twice on Saturday to advance, but in the end, they came up short, falling 6-2 in the first game of the championship.
 
CSUEB took a 2-0 led in the first on a two-run homer by Alexa Zumstein. WWU tied the game in the third and took the lead on a grand slam by Emma Andrewjeski-Ramirez in the fourth.
 
Kaiana Kong pitched a complete game for the Vikings, allowing only five hits and those two first-inning runs.
