ROHNERT PARK, Calif. – No. 3 seed Cal State San Marcos is advancing to the double-elimination portion of the 2025 CCAA Softball Tournament presented by FloCollege after earning a 4-3 comeback win against No. 6 seed Cal State Dominguez Hills.
The Cougars fell behind 3-2 in the top of the fifth after CSUDH’s
Jay Ross drove in two Toros with a single before rallying to retake the lead for good in the bottom of the inning.
Jillian Albayati singled to lead off the bottom of the fifth and quickly advanced to second on a wild pitch, but she was still standing there with two out. That is when
Aneesa Arredondo singled up the middle to bring in Albayati with the tying run on a close play at the plate.
Mackenzie Kestler doubled in Arredondo a batter later as the go-ahead run.
Cal State San Marcos’
Dahlia Fink held the Toros hitless the rest of the way to earn the win. Fink (9-3) had entered the game in the fifth with two on and no one out. She gave up a hit to the first batter she faced before retiring the final eight hitters of the game. Fink struck out one and did not walk a batter.
Arredondo finished the game 2-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored. Kestler and
Savannah Coyle each added a hit and an RBI out of the No. 7 spot in the lineup.
Jay Ross and
Alexis Aguado went 2-for-3 for Cal State Dominguez Hills. Ross drove in two runs and Aguado crossed the plate twice.
Cal State San Marcos will advance to the double-elimination portion of the 2025 CCAA Softball Tournament. It will face the No. 2 seed San Francisco State at 1 p.m. Cal State Dominguez Hills is eliminated from the tournament.
