2024-25 All-CCAA Women's Golf Team; CSUSM's Madison Murr repeats as CCAA Golfer of the Year

Apr 29, 2025

For the second consecutive season, Cal State San Marcos’ Madison Murr was voted the CCAA Women’s Golfer of the Year, and her coach, Greg Hutton, was named the CCAA Coach of the Year.

CCAA Newcomer of the Year honors went to Cal State San Marcos’ Kiara Hernandez, and Cal State East Bay’s Torrie Bowman claimed CCAA Freshman of the Year.

Madison Murr became only the second CCAA student-athlete to win CCAA Golfer of the Year and the CCAA Individual Championship in the same season. The senior from Los Alamitos, Calif., is the No. 2 ranked golfer in the nation with an adjusted scoring average of 70.6. She has finished first or second in all seven tournaments and finished under par five times. Murr has won four of the past five tournaments and will enter the NCAA Regional as the top-ranked golfer in the West. This was the seventh consecutive CCAA Women’s Golfer of the Year honor for CSUSM, and it is the third time a student-athlete has won in successive seasons.

Kiara Hernandez did not join Cal State San Marcos until the spring season, but she stepped right into the lineup for the Cougars and helped lead them to another conference championship. Hernandez finished in the top 10 in four tournaments to climb to the No. 10 ranking in the West Region and No. 39 nationally. She placed second in the WT Desert Invite and third in the CCAA Championships. The junior from Burbank averages 73.2 strokes per round. She is the third CSUSM student-athlete to receive Newcomer of the Year honors (Diana Delgado, 2022 & Caroline Wales, 2023).

The bright lights of college did not faze Torrie Bowman during her freshman campaign at Cal State East Bay. The Fresno native averaged 76.3 strokes per round and rose to No. 2 in the lineup for the Pioneers. Bowman won the RJGA Women’s Palm Valley Classic and finished in the top 5 two more times. She is the first Cal State East Bay student-athlete to win CCAA Freshman of the Year.

Cal State San Marcos’ Greg Hutton is still the only person ever to capture CCAA Women’s Golf Coach of the Year honors. The 11th-year head coach extended his streak to seven consecutive seasons after his team won the 2025 CCAA Women’s Golf Championship by 10 strokes. Hutton helped lead the Cougars to a No. 8 national ranking and the No. 2 ranking in the West Region. Cal State San Marcos hoisted five tournament trophies this season, and never placed outside the top 3 (10 tournaments total).

Hutton also helped guide five CSUSM student-athletes to All-CCAA honors as the Cougars occupied five of the 10 spots on the all-conference list. Murr and Hernandez were joined on the All-CCAA team by Makenna Cabardo, Diana Delgado, and Regan Barton. This was the fourth consecutive all-conference honor for both Cabardo and Murr. Delgado earned the award for the third straight season, and Barton for the second straight season.

Cal State LA’s Morgan Sjoerdsma earned All-CCAA honors for the fifth time in her career. After being named an honorable mention selection in 2019-20, she earned first-team all-conference honors in the past four seasons. Her teammates, Daniela Andrade and Joshlyn Ayala, joined Sjoerdsma on the 2024-25 all-conference team.

The remaining two spots went to Cal State Monterey Bay’s Tilda Kvarnrud and Sonoma State’s Avery Foster.

The CCAA will send seven teams and one individual to the NCAA West Regional in Amarillo, Texas, on May 5-7 for the opportunity to advance to the NCAA Championships in Boulder Creek, Nev., on May 13-17.
