DENVER, Colo.--- For the second year in a row, Stan State's Department of Athletics sent one of their coaches to the WeCOACH Academy in Warrior Assistant Volleyball Coach,
Maggie Billingsley. The Academy was held June 18-19 in Denver, Colorado.
"WeCOACH Academy was a very empowering experience," said Billingsley. "I had the opportunity to interact with some of the strongest, most inspiring female coaches in all sports at all levels. It was unique to hear everyone's stories and to gain some strategy and guidance on how coaches navigate through everyday obstacles. As I enter my seventh season of coaching, I am eager to bring all the knowledge, perspective, and confidence that WeCOACH helped instill in me to our volleyball program here at Stan State. Thank you to Stan State Athletics, WeCOACH, CCAA, and the NCAA Leadership Development Team for making this opportunity possible."
The academy welcomed over 100 women coaches this year from a variety of experience levels and sports, including members of NCAA Division I, II, and III, NAIA, community colleges, U.S. national, and international teams. The WCA offered a master learning program, featuring twenty coach participants.
The breakout sessions included topics such as Know Your Values, Championship Communication, Strategies for Navigating the Coach Profession, Meeting Generation "Z', Where They are, and Explore How Your Identities Your Impact Your Life, Work and Play.
This year marks the 21st anniversary of the Women Coaches Academy, made possible through a longstanding partnership with the NCAA.

"I am so happy that Maggie (Billingsley) was able to experience the WeCoach Academy this year. I had a great experience last year and knew that she would benefit from the program," said Stan State head volleyball coach
Lauren Flowers. "Maggie is always doing so much for everyone else around her and is one of the hardest workers I know so it was necessary that she take some time to pour into herself. I'm grateful the CCAA and our Stan State Athletics administration recognize and support us in these endeavors, and I look forward to seeing the impact she will make on our team this year."
Last year, Stan State head women's volleyball coach
Lauren Flowers and former assistant women's basketball coach Angelica Baylon participated in the Coaches Academy in Denver.
