SAN MARCOS, Calif. - No. 4 seed Cal State East Bay scored eight runs in the bottom of the third and Ashlee Toy pitched a complete game, allowing only an unearned run, to send the Pioneers to an 8-1 win over No. 3 seed Cal State Dominguez Hills and into the CCAA Softball Tournament Championship game for the first time in program history. (May 3)

CSUEB was the first team to figure Cal State Dominguez Hills' Mariah Ramirez out in the tournament. She came into the game with just three runs allowed in 14 tournament innings, but the Pioneers became the first team to figure out the right-hander as they sent 12 batters to the plate, and seven got hits.

Annelise Garcia brought home Ysabella Cortez as the first run of the inning with an RBI triple and came around to score a batter later on Toy's opposite-field single. After a walk put two runners on, the Toros recorded the second out of the inning on a three-pitch strikeout.

Jeslyn Cuellar kept the line moving with an RBI single and later scored on a two-run hit by pinch hitter Serena Cadena. That brought Cortez back to the plate as the 10th batter of the inning. She doubled, and Gabriella Rivera capped the inning with another two-run single to extend the lead to 8-1.

Cal State Dominguez Hills put runners on base each of the next four innings, but the seven-run deficit was too much to overcome.

Toy finished the game, allowing seven hits and one run (unearned) over seven innings. She walked three and struck out four to improve to 11-9 on the season. Ramirez now stands at 22-7.
