Only fairy tales are supposed to end this way because only in that world could people believe such a magical moment could happen. Well, the fans at Toro Diamond on Saturday, May 6, experienced a taste of that storybook magic as Nayah Pola made her name legendary with a three-run, walk-off home run in extra innings to earn Cal State Dominguez Hills the program's first CCAA Tournament Championship with a 4-1 win over Chico State.

In the 10th inning of a 1-1 game that had not seen a score since the third inning, Pola stepped to the plate with two out and two runners on. After taking the first pitch, she barreled the ball to deep left-center field. The outfielders tracked it to the fence and looked like they might have a play, but the ball sailed just beyond the wall for her first home run of the season as her teammates streamed out of the dugout.

They were all waiting for Pola as she rounded third base and gave assistant coach Jared Maier a high-five before going into a sea of Toros' jerseys and stepping on the plate to complete her walk-off home run. Her teammates lifted Pola on their shoulders as they celebrated their first tournament championship with their fans.

The moment was only made possible by the excellent pitching performance the Toros received on the mound from Tournament MVP Alyssa Olague. The first team All-CCAA selection went all 10 innings allowing just one run in the first inning. She gave up 12 hits and one walk but was able to pitch out of every tough situation. She struck out four and improved to 16-7 on the season.

Pola went 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBI in the game. She finished the tournament hitting .421 (8-for-19) with a hit in every game of the series. She was joined on the all-tournament team by her teammates Raquel Jaime, Kaylee Hull, and Alani Nguyen. Chico State placed Grace Stover, Katelyn Oldwin, Tayler Berens, and Mia Flores on the all-tournament team.

Cal State Dominguez earns the CCAA's automatic bid to the NCAA West Regional. Chico State will find out its fate during the NCAA selection show on Monday, May 8, at 7 a.m.
