Ashley Wies struck out 10 in a complete game effort to lead Cal State Dominguez Hills into the championship game of the 2023 CCAA Softball Tournament with a 5-1 win over Sonoma State.

The junior right-hander allowed just four hits and one run over seven dominant innings. The only run for the Seawolves came in the sixth on a throwing error, but Wies limited the damage there and pitched her team to victory. She is now 10-2 on the season.

Alani Nguyen was the offensive star of the game, going 2-for-3 with a home run and three RBI. Her solo shot in the fourth inning got the Toros on the board. She then had a two-run, two-out single in the fifth to extend the lead to 5-0. Raquel Jaime also had a two-run single in the fifth inning rally. She finished the two games today, reaching base in five of her seven plate appearances (one hit, four walks).

The two teams combined for just nine hits in a game that took less than two hours (1:52).

Chico State will be going for the program's third CCAA Tournament Championship. CSUDH is still looking for its first tournament title. First pitch is scheduled for Noon. Watch the game live at CCAAnetwork.com
