Sonoma State rallied for eight runs in the top of the sixth inning to come from behind and defeat Cal State Monterey Bay 10-5 in the championship game of the 2022 CCAA Softball Tournament. 

Sonoma State rallied for eight runs in the top of the sixth inning to come from behind and defeat Cal State Monterey Bay 10-5 in the championship game of the 2022 CCAA Softball Tournament. 
 
Trailing 5-2 with only six outs remaining, tournament MVP Jordyn Martinez started the rally with a four-pitch walk. Two batters later, the Seawolves had the bases loaded with no outs. Sonoma State would not hit the ball more than 80 feet throughout the rest of the inning, but they scored eight runs to take the late lead.
 
Courtney Jack and Reagan Hunt had run-scoring singles, and two runs came in on plays at the plate. Giana Hays added a sacrifice fly, and Cassidy Romano capped off the scoring with an RBI single up the middle.
 
Jesse Dupuis (14-4) put up zeroes on the scoreboard in the sixth and seventh innings to secure the victory for the Seawolves. She came out of the bullpen to throw the final 5.2 innings and earn the win. She allowed seven hits, two runs (one earned), and struck out three batters.
 
Jordyn Martinez went 2-for-3 in the game with a home run, two RBI, two runs scored, and a walk. The junior catcher finished the tournament hitting .571 (8-for-14) with three home runs, five RBI, and eight runs scored. Cassidy Romano and Courtney Jack also posted mutli-hit games, and seven Seawolves registered RBIs.

The Seawolves' offense did not miss a beat in any of their four games as they posted a tournament-record 44 runs, shattering the previous record of 30.

Sonoma State earns the league's automatic bid by winning the tournament. The CCAA is expected to get five teams into the NCAA West Regional. The NCAA Selection Show can be seen on Monday, May 9 at 7 a.m. (PST) on NCAA.com.
