On Saturday, Cal State Dominguez Hills defeated Seton Hill to stave off elimination and become one of just four teams remaining in the NCAA Softball Championships.
The road to victory was not looking easy for the Toros after surrendering five runs in the top of the fourth to fall behind 6-3. They rallied with five runs in the bottom of the fifth to take back the lead for good. In the inning, Claudia Valencia and Alex Davis each drove in a run with singles, and Chenoa Au provided the big hit with a bases-clearing double to score three runs.
Alyssa Olague then shut down the Griffins in the seventh to secure the win for Dominguez Hills. Olague went the last three innings for the Toros. She allowed just one hit and no runs while striking out four. She is now 22-13 on the season.
Au went 2-for-2 with a walk and sacrifice. She drove in three runs and scored two others. Claudia Valencia and Raquel Jaime registered a pair of hits and runs apiece.
Cal State Dominguez Hills will play North Georgia in on Sunday. The Toros will need to defeat North Georgia twice on Sunday to advance to the finals, as the Nighthawks have still not lost at the championships.
