Rogers State jumped on Cal State Dominguez Hills with three runs in the second, and the Toros could not solve Hillcats' pitcher Andrea Morales as they dropped their second-round game at the NCAA Softball Championships, 10-2.
Morales went the distance for Rogers State. She scattered 12 hits over seven innings but allowed just two runs. She did not walk a batter and struck out three. She improved to 36-4 on the season.
Abby Rogers homered as part of the three-run second inning for the Hillcats. The Toros cut the deficit to one (3-1) on Kianna Abellera's RBI single in the third inning, but a three-run blast by pinch-hitter Callie Yellin in the sixth put Rogers State's lead up to six (6-1).
Cal State Dominguez Hills will now face Seton Hill in an elimination game on Saturday, May at 12:30 p.m. PST.
