Cal State San Marcos outlasted Cal State Dominguez Hills in 13 innings to earn a 3-2 win in the first game of the NCAA Softball Super Regional.
Paige Donnelly came through with the game-winning hit as she singled to left to score Nikki Andelin right in front of the throw. It was the Cougars' only lead of the game.
An RBI double by Cal State San Marcos' Aneesa Arredondo tied the game at 1-1 in the fourth, and it stayed tied until the 12th when Claudia Valencia gave the Toros the lead with a solo home run.
Cal State San Marcos rallied for a run in the bottom of the inning to extend the game to the 13th and set up Donnelly for the heroics.
The teams have two more games on the schedule for tomorrow. Cal State San Marcos needs just one win to clinch, while Cal State Dominguez Hills will have to pick up two wins on Friday.
