Duke of Cal Poly Pomona earns second Player of the Week Award

For the second time this season, Cal Poly Pomona’s Daisy Duke has been named the CCAA Volleyball Player of the Week, this time for the week of Oct. 18-24.

Duke, an opposite side hitter, smashed 30 kills while hitting .500 to lead the Broncos to two more victories, on the road last weekend.

The sophomore from Rancho Cucamonga had 30 kills on 54 attempts with just three errors in road matches at Humboldt State and Sonoma State. Duke also added six digs and four blocks to tally 32 points in eight sets. She averaged 3.75 kills and 4.00 points per set.

At HSU on Thursday, Duke recorded 12 kills with a .476 attacking percentage with four digs. Then at Sonoma State on Saturday, she slammed 18 kills on 33 swings with just one error (.515) with two digs and four assisted blocks.

Duke currently ranks fourth in the CCAA in hitting percentage (.373) and sixth in kills per set (3.39).

Duke was the conference’s player of the week for Aug. 30-Sept. 5.

The third place Broncos (9-3 CCAA) host Cal State Dominguez Hills and Cal State LA this Friday and Saturday, respectively.
