Strong, Fields Pick Up Track and Field Awards

After a pair of provisional marks on the weekend, Ryan Fields and Ndoto Strong have earned CCAA Track and Field Athlete of the Week for April 8-14, respectively.

Fields, a freshman from Los Angeles, ran the ninth-best time in Cal Poly Pomona school history with a mark of 52.67 seconds in the 400 meter hurdles at the Triton Invitational. His mark was good for third place in the event. His time improved upon his NCAA provisional mark and jumped him to the top of the CCAA performance list in the 400 meter hurdles.

Strong’s weekly award comes after a fourth-place finish in the shot put at the Triton Invitational, with a provisional qualifying throw of 16.26 meters. The Cougar later finished 24th in the discus throw, tossing the dish 48.17 meters.

The Broncos and Cougars are scheduled to compete across the Southland this weekend, including  taking to the track and the Mt. SAC Relays and Brian Clay Invitational.
