ALISO VIEJO, Calif. - Ten CCAA men’s track & field student-athletes collected 12 U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-America honors following their performances at the 2026 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
 
Chico State’s Damian Garcia and Mario Giannini earned first-team All-America honors, while eight additional student-athletes received second-team recognition. Chico State led the conference with six honorees and seven All-America awards. Cal State LA collected three honors, while Cal Poly Humboldt and Cal Poly Pomona each added one.
 
Damian Garcia moved onto the first team after placing fifth in the 1500-meter with a time of 3:50.04. It was the second consecutive All-America award for the Chico State standout after he earned second-team honors in the event in 2025.
 
Mario Giannini earned the first track & field All-America honor of his career with a sixth-place finish in the 10,000m. The junior crossed the finish line in 29:35.11 to become the first CCAA man to secure first-team honors at the 2026 championships.
 
Cal State LA’s Drew Hill was one of two conference student-athletes to earn multiple All-America honors. Hill placed 10th in the 100m preliminaries with a time of 10.48, missing a place in the final by just one-hundredth of a second. He also finished 13th in the 200m with a time of 21.10 to collect his second All-American award of the season.
 
Chico State’s Brody Staley also earned two second-team All-America awards. Staley finished 13th in the 400m with a time of 46.93 before joining Logan Cole, Harrison Hubbard and Trey Suffredini on the Wildcats’ 4x400m relay team. The quartet recorded a season-best time of 3:09.53 and finished 12th nationally.
 
The relay honor was the second consecutive for Staley and Suffredini. Both were members of Chico State’s second-team All-America 4x400m relay team in 2025.
 
Cal State LA’s Nicholas Anize earned second-team recognition in the 400m hurdles. Anize placed 13th at the national championships after crossing the finish line in 52.45.
 
Cal Poly Pomona’s Ricardo Vargas added an All-America honor to his decorated senior season by finishing 15th in the 10,000m with a time of 30:18.94. Vargas also earned All-West Region recognition in the 1500m, 5000m, and 10,000m during the 2026 season.
 
Cal Poly Humboldt’s Michael Payan became a two-time All-American in the pole vault. The sophomore tied for 10th nationally after clearing 16-11 (5.16m). Payan earned first-team honors as a freshman in 2025 when he finished fifth at the NCAA Championships.
 
USTFCCCA first-team All-America honors are awarded to student-athletes finishing first through eighth in their event. Beginning in 2026, second-team honors were expanded to individuals placing ninth through 16th. The top eight relay teams receive first-team recognition, while teams finishing ninth through 12th are selected to the second team.
