Weekly Softball Honors Awarded to Vidmar, Wenger

From no-hitters to blazing bats, Sonoma State’s Brielle Vidmar and Cal State Dominguez Hills’ Chloe Wenger have been selected as CCAA Softball Pitcher and Player of the Week for March 4-10, respectively.

Vidmar, a senior from Clovis, comes to weekly acclaim after throwing a no-hitter from the circle after Sonoma State posted a 3-1 victory over No. 14 UC San Diego.  Allowing four walks on the day with one earned one crossing the plate, Vidmar struck out five in her seven innings of work in the complete game shutout as the Seawolves split the day.

Wenger, a sophomore from Chino Hills, was on fire at the plate in a four-game sweep of Humboldt State. He hit .727 (8-for-11) with eight RBI and two runs in the series. Wenger was perfect 4-for-4 with five RBI in the series opener, going 4-for-4 with one run and five RBI as the Toros put up 17 runs in the contest, one of three games with double figure scoring outputs. Cal State Dominguez Hills owned a 46-18 scoring advantage against the Jacks, due in no small part to Wenger’s bat.

Next, Sonoma State takes on Cal State East Bay this weekend, while Cal State Dominguez Hills hosts defending CCAA champion Chico State in Carson.
