Tritons Seniors Take Home First Track & Field Awards of 2019


A pair of upperclassmen from UC San Diego have opened up the year with accolades as Nicholas Rack and Aria Sadeghi have been picked for CCAA Track & Field Athlete of the Week, respectively.

Rack, a senior from Murrieta, raced to a provisional qualifying time of 14.37 seconds in the 110 hurdles at the Pomona-Pitzer All Comers Meet. A first team All-American in the event in 2018, Rack was atop the podium after the race, besting his nearest competitor by .38 seconds.

Sadeghi, a senior from Laguna Hills, earned a first-place finish in the men’s hammer throw at the Pomona-Pitzer All Comers Meet. His toss of 174’9” (53.26) was nearly 30 feet in front of his closest competitor and good for 10th all time at UC San Diego.

The Tritons are next in action this Saturday, slated to compete at the Rossi Relays in Claremont.
