Hayward, Calif. — The showdown, version 2, is set on Championship Saturday.
Cal State San Marcos edged a resilient Cal Poly Humboldt team, 4-3, in the second semifinal elimination game on Friday fo the 2026 CCAA Softball Tournament, presented by FloCollege. The Cougars will play in Saturday's title game against Cal State East Bay at 11 a.m. as a rematch of the winner's bracket game that started the day on Friday here at Pioneer Softball Field.
The Cougars elected to throw Madison Cabrera against the Lumberjacks, saving ace Jordan Hill for the tournament title day. CSUSM, however, will have to beat the host Pioneers to face an if necessary game as it seeks its second CCAA tournament banner in three years. Meanwile, Cal State East Bay will be looking to win its first conference postseason championship.
Czar Fleischman got San Marcos on the board early with a towering two-run home run to deep left field to cap a three-run first inning rally. Fleischman's blast went over the large left-field grandstands for the longest bomb of the tournament.
After Humboldt get a run in the third on a Marissa Brody RBI single, CSUSM's Zoe Karam homered to left for a 4-1 lead.
Humboldt would not go down quietly as the Jacks answered with a solo shot by Rylee Banks in the fourth. Alyssa Ramirez would make it 4-3 with a RBI single to center that scored Bella Garcia.
However, CSUSM would hang on, behind a solid relief outing by Hailey Shiftlett. In 3.2 innings, Shiftlett did not give up a run on three hits to earn the win in the circle.
