Hayward, Calif. — Cal Poly Humboldt scored seven runs in the second inning en route to routing Cal State Dominguez Hills, 11-0, in five innings to stay alive in the 2026 CCAA Softball Tournament presented by FloCollege.
Humboldt remains in the tournament and will now face Cal State San Marcos in the third game of the semifinal day. The elimination game is slated for 3 p.m.
The Lumberjacks sent 11 batters to the plate, collect five hits and used two Toro errors to plate seven runs to build a 8-0 lead after two innings. Humboldt would add on with a three-run blast by Marissa Brody in the fourth to close out the no-doubter.
After Shelby Shanks hit a solo homer in the first inning for an early Jacks lead, Humboldt capitalized on a two-out error to score seven times. With the bases loaded and two outs, a CSUDH defensive miscue extended the inning. Three consecutive singles and a double later, the Lumberjacks led 8-0.
Katlyn Gifford went 3-for-3 with a double and two RBI with Bella Garcia, Shanks and Brody each picked up two hits. In fact, the 2-through-5 batters collectively went 9-for-11 with all 11 runs batted in.
Lily Fournier threw all five innings for Humboldt and allowed four hits with two strikeouts for the win.
