HAYWARD, Calif. — Dyoni Garcia's walk-off homer ended a dramastic seventh inning as No. 4 seed Cal State Dominguez Hills survives and advances after the 8-6 win over No. 5 seed Cal State Monterey Bay to open the 2026 CCAA Softball Tournament presented by FloCollege on Wednesday, May 6.

With one out in the home half of the seventh inning in the win-or-go-home game, Garcia hit a line-drive to left-field that just cleared the fence to lift CSUDH into the double-elimination portion of the tournament, which begins Thursday. The Toros will match-up against top-seed and regular season champion Cal State San Marcos at Noon.

Cal State Dominguez Hills took a 6-1 lead into the final frame before the Otters battle back. Cal State Monterey Bay scrapped together a run after two walks and a fielder's choice to load the bases. Kieley Ganaden singled in a run to make it 6-2 to set-up an unbelievable moment. With one out and the bases full, Abreanna Alba took the first offering down the line to the opposite field. The ball stayed fair and hugged the foul pole for a grand-slam bomb to tie the game at 6-6. Alba, who had already homered in the fourth inning, became the eighth player to homer twice in a CCAA tournament game.

Tori Au led the Toros, going 3-for-3 with an RBI, and Savanna Kastigar hit a three-run shot in the fifth that gave CSUDH a 6-1 lead. Marissa Dominguez also had two hits for the Toros, winners of 10 straight and 12 of their last 13 games.

Alba ended up 2-for-3 with two home runs with five runs batted in. Gananden also had two hits to pace the Otters.

Day two of the tournament action will also include the No. 2 seed and host Cal State East Bay taking on No. 3 seed Cal Poly Humboldt at 2:30 p.m.
