Isabel Perez-Zoghbi of Cal Poly Humboldt has earned the FloCollege/CCAA Women’s Track Athlete of the Week award, for the week of March 30-April 5.

Perez-Zoghbi set a new Humboldt record in the 800-meter run, by winning the event at the Fanelli Classic in a time of 2:04.92, which met the championship provisional qualifying standard. Her time is currently the second fastest in Division II (West Texas A&M’s Abigail Abugire clocked 2:04.38 last Thursday). Her personal best topped the Lumberjack record by nearly four seconds.

The junior from Merced, Calif., also competed in the 1,500-meter run on Friday, winning her heat in 4:28.19. The time, which also surpassed the provisional qualifying time, leads the CCAA and is now the third best in program history.

Perez-Zoghbi, an All-American in indoor track in the 800m, is a reigning 400-meter hurdles  silver medalist in the CCAA Championships.

This is Perez-Zoghbi’s second CCAA Track Athlete of the Week award of her career. She earned this honor once as a freshman in 2023. Click here for a complete list of past CCAA Track & Field Athletes of the Week.

Cal Poly Humboldt is set to compete at the Chico Invitational and Distance Carnival this weekend at Chico State.
