Cal State East Bay’s Marissa Quintero captures fifth FloCollege/CCAA Pitcher of the Week award of the season

For the fifth time this season, Cal State East Bay’s Marissa Quintero has been selected as the FloCollege/CCAA Softball Player of the Week.

Quintero went 2-0 with one save across four appearances in a series at Cal State San Bernardino, totalling 15.2 innings with one complete game. In all she allowed just one run on nine hits with six strikeouts while holding opponents to a .180 batting average.

The junior from Whittier, Calif., opened the series with a quick outing, needing only to pitch three frames for the win in a 13-1 decision in favor of the Pioneers. She also pitched 4.2 innings in relief in Friday’s nightcap. In Saturday’s game one, Quintero threw a complete game win, allowing one unearned run on five hits in the 3-1 win. In the series finale, she preserved the CSUEB win with a save in a 7-6 contest to lead the Pioneers to the series win.

Quintero improved her personal record to 23-4 on the year. Her 23 wins ties for second most in Division II. She also ranks third nationally in ERA (1.11). Among CCAA pitchers, Quintero leads in ERA, opposing batting average (.170), strikeouts (112), innings (164.1), and wins (23). Click here to see the CCAA stats leaderboard
