Jordan Hill of Cal State San Marcos has earned her third FloCollege/CCAA Softball Player of the Week award, this time for the week of April 6-12.
In the marquee match-up at No. 8 Cal State East Bay and the top-ranked Cougars split the four games in Hayward. The series featured three games decided by three runs or less and two by one run, including an extra inning contest.
In three appearances, Hill ended up 1-1 with 14 strikeouts in 12.1 innings of work while recording a complete game. She pitched all eight innings of the opener — a 2-1 CSUSM decision. She was dominant in that game with 11 strikeouts and yielded just two hits. The lone run was a solo home run by Jeslyn Cuellar, this week’s Player of the Week.
The graduate student from San Dimas, Calif., also came in in relief on Friday in a 10-1 victory and allowed two runs on three hits in 1.2 innings in the series finale. Hill is now 13-3 on the season.
Hill ranks second among CCAA pitchers in ERA (1.68) and opposing batting average (.209). She is third in wins (13), fourth in strikeouts (86) and fifth in innings pitched (108.1). Click here to see the CCAA stats leaderboard.
