Stan State’s Alexandria Himes earns FloCollege/CCAA Pitcher of the Week selection

Stanislaus State’s Alexandria Himes has been chosen as the FloCollege/CCAA Softball Pitcher of the Week, for the week of March 9-15.

Himes earned two victories in the circle over the weekend to lead the Warriors to a three-games-to-one series win on their home diamond. She picked up wins in both nightcaps to improve her personal record to 7-3 after tossing two complete games. Himes allowed just 10 hits and two runs with a shutout in her two starts. She struck out six and walked four and limited the Coyotes to a .196 batting average.

In Saturday’s series finale, the junior from Rocklin, Calif., threw a complete game shutout, yielding just four hits against Cal State San Bernardino as the Warriors won 5-0 to win the series. After getting out of a jam in the second inning, Himes retired 10 of the next 11 batters while Stan State increased its lead. She struck out four and walked one in the outing. In Friday’s game two, Himes gave up two runs on six hits but held on to a 3-0 lead to preserve the 4-2 win.

Himes is in the top 10 in the CCAA in a number of categories including opposing batting average (eighth, .252), ERA (ninth, 2.67) and innings (10th, 60.1). Click here to see the CCAA stats leaderboard

The Warriors (14-10, 3-5 CCAA) is off this week before traveling to Chico State (8-12, 2-6 CCAA) for a four-game set, March 27-28.
