Cal State East Bay’s Marissa Quintero repeats as FloCollege/CCAA Pitcher of the Week

Marissa Quintero of Cal State East Bay has picked up a second consecutive FloCollege/CCAA Softball Pitcher of the Week award after another stellar week.

Quintero continues to dominate in the circle as she won three more games to improve her personal record to 9-0. At the Stanislaus State invitational, she pitched 19.1 innings with two complete games and allowed just one earned run for a 0.36 ERA. Quintero allowed just seven hits with 15 strikeouts against seven walks. She held opponents to a .111 betting average while earning another All-Tournament honor.

The junior from Whittier, Calif., began the weekend with a 2-hit complete game, 5-1, win over Dominican on Thursday. Quintern then came in in relief to earn a victory on Friday by tossing 5.1 scoreless innings against Central Washington to preserve a 6-5 CSUEB win. On Saturday, she pitched a three-hitter and gave up just an unearned run in a 2-1 win over Saint Martin’s.

Quintero continues to lead the CCAA with 48 strikeouts, wins (9), innings (51.2) and opposing batting average (.119). She’s second with a 0.27 ERA. Click here to see the CCAA stats leaderboard

The No. 5 ranked Cal State East Bay Pioneers improved to 14-1 with a 13-game winning streak. This week, they host Simon Fraser in a doubleheader on Wednesday.
