Cal State Dominguez Hills rookie Marisa Dominguez has been selected as the FloCollege/CCAA Softball Player of the Week, for the week of Feb. 9-15.
Dominguez batted .714, going 10-for-14, in leading the Toros to a 4-0 mark while out-scoring teams 38-7. She collected two doubles, drove in six runs and scored six times in leading the CSUDH charge.
At Azusa Pacific on Friday, the freshman outfielder from Chino HIlls had a big night-cap with five RBI, including a bases-clearing double in the seventh to blow the game wide open. The Toros swept APU, 11-1 and 12-2 in Azusa. On Valentine’s Day, Dominguez provided a lot of love to the Toros offense as she went a perfect 7-for-7 in the twinbill sweep over Vanguard. She went 4-for-4 in game one with a run and was 3-for-3 with an RBI and scored twice plus a stolen base in the finale.
After the breakout weekend, Dominguez is now fifth in the CCAA in scoring (14 runs) and seven with 19 hits. She leads the Toros offense, which ranks second in the conference with a .349 team batting average. Click here to see the CCAA stats leaderboard.
