Two Toros earn a spot on the first Bevo Francis Watch List

ALISO VIEJO, Calif. - The CCAA is represented by Cal State Dominguez Hills' Jalen Brown and Josiah Sanders on the first Bevo Francis Watch List for the 2025–26 season.
 
The top 100 watch list highlights many of the nation’s top student-athletes competing across DII, DIII, NAIA, USCAA, and NCCAA programs. The award is named after Rio Grande legend Bevo Francis, who still holds the DII single-game scoring record (113) and season average record (46.5 points per game). Nominees are based on season statistics and individual achievements, awards, personal character, and team achievements.
 
Jalen Brown joined the Toros as a transfer from Regis. He ranks fourth in the conference in points per game (15.9) and leads the CCAA in made field goals (112). The junior guard is also fourth in field goal percentage (.538) and seventh in free throw percentage (.779). Brown has scored in double-figures in 12 consecutive games, including a four-game stretch where he averaged 24.0 points per game.
 
Josiah Sanders has been one of the best big men in the conference this season, averaging 14.7 points and 5.9 rebounds per game. He has recorded three double-doubles and five games with 20 or more points. He is fifth in the CCAA in blocks per game (1.00) and second in field goal percentage (.555).
 
The list will continue to be whittled down, with it being cut in half to 50 on Feb. 15. One month later, on March 15, the top 25 will be released,  April 4, Small College Basketball will announce the finalists, with the winner to be announced on April 6, the day after the 2026 DII men's basketball champion is crowned.
