Jay Ross of CSUDH repeats as FloCollege/CCAA Softball Player of the Week

For the second consecutive week, Jay Ross from Cal State Dominguez Hills has been named the FloCollege/CCAA Softball Player of the Week.

Ross went 7-for-13 to bat .538 with an impressive slugging percentage of .846 behind a double and a home run. She drove in five runs and scored three times to lead the Toros to a three games to one series win over Cal Poly Humboldt. Ross also drew two walks for 13 total bases for a .600 on base percentage.

The senior outfielder from Whittier hit safely in each game of the series and had multi-hits in three of the four games. Ross got the Toros offense going in games two and three of the series with first inning RBI singles, both times leading them to close-game victories. In the series finale, she had her best game of the weekend, going 2-for-3 with a double, a two-run dinger to drive in three runs in CSUDH’s 9-1 win. Ross now has a 14-game hitting streak, during which she’s gone 23 for 44 (.523) with six doubles, a homer and 15 RBI.

Ross is second in the CCAA with 36 runs scored and is third in on-base percentage (.477). Her .389 batting average is sixth best while 51 hits is at No. 4. Click here to see the CCAA stats leaderboard
