Jayline Sloss of Cal State San Marcos threw two shutouts to gain this week’s honor as the FloCollege/CCAA Softball Pitcher of the Week.

Sloss tossed two six-inning complete game shutouts over Chico State to increase her personal record to 12-4 this season while leading 18th ranked Cal State San Marcos to a series sweep over the Wildcats. Sloss worked 12 innings and gave up just a total of five singles in two starts. She struck out eight and walked two and limited the Wildcats to a .125 batting average while getting plenty of offensive support. CSUSM won both of her starts 8-0 in six innings.

The senior from Bakersfield started Friday’s game by retiring eight batters before a walk. Sloss did not allow a hit until the sixth inning when Chico State collected two safely to start the frame. Sloss got a fly out and two strikeouts to end the rally. In Saturday’s game, Sloss yielded just three singles. After getting out of the first inning after two Wildcats singles, she gave up a hit in the third before sitting 10 straight batters in order to finish her outing.

Among the CCAA leaders, Sloss is fourth in both ERA (2.24) and opposing batting average (.239). She is also tied for fourth with 67 strikeouts and her 12 wins is tied for third most. Click here to see the CCAA stats leaderboard
