Chico State’s Chance Hefter has been picked as this week’s FloCollege/CCAA Field Athlete of the Week, for the week of April 7-13.

Hefter won two events and finished fourth in another at the Chico Invitational last week. The senior from Newark posted victories in the shot put and discus throw events while taking fourth in the hammer throw. His shot put toss of 16.70 meters (54-feet-9.5 inches) is a personal best and an upgrade to his provisional mark.

In the discus throw, Hefter equaled his provisional mark of 51.04 meters (167 feet, 5 inches), which is also a career best.

The 2024 CCAA Men’s Track & Field Newcomer of the Meet is the current conference leader in the discus and is second in the shot put.

The Wildcats head to Southern California for a busy week of track and field meets at Azusa (Bryan Clay Invitational), La Verne (Leopard Invitational) and Long Beach (Beach Invitational).
